Windows and Doors

Windows and doors of a structural building are important because they provide extra protection, a way to watch the outside, entrances and exits, and allow light to come in.  By looking at Nehemiah chapters 4 through 6, we saw how windows and doors in our dream home are just as important.

With the world's opposition on an everlasting marriage, we need extra protection.  The world spits out ridicule but we can overcome it by prayer and determination. However, the enemy only becomes angry when he sees these actions and conspires to cause a disturbance.  He threatens to attack our marriages.  Thus, we must be continuously watching and praying so his attacks do not take us by surprise.  Then we can defeat the enemy and stay victorious! (Mark 14:38, Proverbs 24:33-34)

There will be time when we get discouraged or afraid.  We must let more of Christ - The Light - come into our marriage.  In doing so, we will be able to encourage each other as we are commanded in 1 Thessalonians 5:11. 

The enemy does not give up easily and will try many different ways to enter our marriage.  We must remember to rally together and submit to each other instead of taking advantage of each other.  Your spouse, your children, parents or in-laws are not your enemies.  The true enemy is the devil and all his demons (Eph 6:12).  Also, be sure to never compromise with the world philosophy or be distracted by a friend or foe.  We must have a great vision for our dream home - an everlasting marriage. Lastly, we must not receive all the world says but must have discernment so we will know what to let in, things to keep out, or wrong things that got in that need throwing out.

Our dream home - our everlasting marriage - needs extra protection, a way to watch the outside, entrances and exits, and a way to let the Light come in.

I like what Nehemiah said in chapter four verses nineteen and twenty:  "Our work is great and extensive, but our God will fight for us."
