The Roof
Every structural building needs a roof in order to be complete. The roof adds coverage and protection to the inside of the building. However, many couples leave their marriage uncovered & unprotected from the schemes of the devil. We must place the roof on our dream home. This roof is PRAYER.
Prayer is part of the actual spiritual conflict itself (Eph. 6:18). When we fail to pray diligently with all kinds of prayer in all situations, we are surrendering to the enemy and cease to fight. In Isaiah 62:6-7, we are told that in all things we know to be God's will, we must continue to cry out to God and "give Him no rest" until He brings to pass all that He has promised.
Every scripture we read about prayer used words like persist, intensely, continuously, or earnestly. Thus, prayer is significant in our marriage and lives.
In Matthew 18:19, Jesus brings out the point that if two (a couple) agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of His Father which is in heaven. This does not mean that you agree with your spouse's answer but that you both agree that God has the answer and as a couple you will be obedient to Him.
The roof of your dream home - prayer - impacts not only you but also your children, friends, extended family, neighbors, co-workers, and even strangers.
Most types of roofing require single/double coverage. This is one or two overlapping thickness for protection. Thus, as the builder increases the coverage by decreasing the exposure, the weather tightness of the roof improves. For an everlasting marriage, more prayer means more coverage, more coverage means more protection. (Psalm 91).
Single/double coverage enables roofing material to be used on shallower slopes than would be otherwise permitted. Thus, if you are doing the roofing alone there is a shallower slope to the roof, however, more prayer from you will increase coverage and protection for the marriage/home. I encourage you to keep on praying faithfully.
Placing a finished roof on our dream home will take the effective prayer of a righteous man (James 5:16) and driving the vultures away from our covenant marriage (Gen.15:9-17).
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit." James 5:16-18
